The Draymond Green suspension saga doesn’t seem to find its closure. Weeks after his return, the Golden State Warriors star forward, dug it out again. This time, it was directed at his former teammate, Kevin Durant. Featuring on the latest episode of 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony & Kid Mero, Green poured his heart out speaking about the Slim Reaper’s response to the ugly on-court incident.
In December 2023, DrayMagic swung his arm at Phoenix Suns‘ Jusuf Nurkic during a play and received an indefinite suspension. Following the game, the Dubs star received a lot of backlash and criticisms thrown at him, including KD. Durant didn’t hesitate to throw a shade at his former teammate on TV. He said, “That was insane to see… I hope Draymond gets the help that he needs.”
Soon after the incident, the league laid out an indefinite suspension on the star. And after missing 12 straight games, Green returned to the Warriors fold after seeking necessary professional help. However, he doesn’t seem to have forgotten KD’s words. Speaking in the podcast, he described his current relationship with the Suns superstar. Amid his praise, he also addressed the thorn that is stuck in his chest.
Green said, “I actually got nothing but love. Although he did some wild shit recently… Bro, you got my phone number. He go on TV and telling, ‘I hope he get the help’… If that’s you feel, hit me…”
He further added, “I thought that was wild… That kinda rubbed in a wrong way, but I got nothing but love for KD.” Nevertheless, despite the harsh words surrounding him, the Dubs star has turned it around for his team since his return.
Every loyal NBA fan knows that the KD-Green drama isn’t new one. The duo had beef going on between them since they played together. Let’s take a brief look at the history of the beef.
The Green-KD beef
The signs of tension between the duo were present entirely during Durant’s last season with the Dubs. They both were seen screaming at each other multiple times in the Warriors bench. Many argued that KD left the Bay Area team after his beef with Green. Even the Suns superstar later went on to admit that Green was part of the reason for him to leave the franchise.
However, 4 years down the lane, they seemed to have gone past the issue, but it seemed to again brought out after the suspension saga.
