The Dallas Cowboys are presently in a weird situation. There is a lot of uncertainty around quarterback Dak Prescott‘s contract situation. The QB will run out of contract in less than a year but the Cowboys front office has shown no signs of giving him an extension.
Earlier the quarterback was supposed to get $59.5 million in his final year. However, in an attempt to maintain the cap structure, the Cowboys turned his roster bonus into signing one. It suggested that Prescott would likely get $55.4 million as an annual salary in the last year of his current contract.
If the Cowboys fail to give him a contract soon after the end of next season, Prescott will count at least $40.46 million against the 2025 salary cap despite not being on the roster.
In this context, speculations are doing rounds that Prescott might leave the Dallas Cowboys. There are rumors that both parties might part ways in the coming time if the former does not do enough justice to the latter.
Nevertheless, analyst David Helman claimed that this situation will not arise. The Cowboys are well aware of the fact that they have no quarterbacks and Dak is the only option. In this context, they will decide to go with Prescott and give him what he wants.
David Helman compares Dak Prescott’s situation to Kirk Cousins
Helman’s argument was clear. Dak Prescott has always been a fantastic regular-season quarterback. In his eight regular seasons, Prescott has taken the Cowboys into the playoffs seven times- a record that other quarterbacks can be envious of.

Helman cited the example of Kirk Cousins here. Cousins, despite having an Achilles Tendon injury the QB received a contract following his great performance in regular seasons. Comparing Prescott with Cousins, Helman noted that Prescott had a significantly better career than Cousins. Hence, he would get the contract he deserves.
Prescott is presently going through a lot of legal complications as Victoria Shores alleged him of se*ual misconduct. The Cowboys signal-caller then filed a legal suit against her. The investigation is going on. In his personal life, Prescott and his girlfriend Sarah Jane Ramos welcomed baby MJ Rose on February 29 earlier this year.
