We are just over a week away from the start of the 2024 NFL Draft so it’s time to take a look at where the Cowboys may decide to go with their first pick.
With Dallas holding the No. 24 overall pick, it’s tough to try to predict which players will be left for the Cowboys to select from when it’s finally their pick. With that being said, we can at least try to predict what position it is they’ll draft.
One of the best ways to figure that out is by looking at the betting odds. If there’s any information out there about what the Cowboys may do with their pick, you can guarantee that oddsmakers and bettors are aware of it.
Let’s take a look at what position oddsmakers think the Cowboys will draft with their first pick.
Cowboys Draft Odds
The odds listed below are via FanDuel Sportsbook:
Offensive Lineman -175 Linebacker +470 Defensive Lineman/Edge +500 Wide Receiver +1100 Cornerback +1100 Quarterback +4500
According to the betting odds, the most likely position for the Cowboys to take with their first pick is offensive line, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to most fans. At -175 odds, there’s an implied probability of 63.54% of them going in that direction.
After losing Tyson Smith to the Jets this offseason, they desperately need his replacement. Some options the Cowboys could go at that position include Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma, Jordan Morgan from Arizona, Graham Barton from Duke, and Amarius Mims from Georgia.
Other potential positions include linebacker (+470) and defensive lineman or edge rusher (+500). After those three positions, there’s a large drop-off and then wide receiver and cornerback each have about an 8.33% chance of being the position the Cowboys take. Finally, quarterback is a distant sixth possibility at +4500.
