Klay Thompson, the star player for the Golden State Warriors, has faced adversity and overcome two season-ending injuries to win his fourth NBA championship. Along with his family, he established the Thompson Family Foundation in 2017 with the aim of supporting youth education and fitness in the United States and the Bahamas.
Before a recent game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Klay and his foundation collaborated with the Challenged Athletes Foundation to make a difference in the life of Braulio Noriega from Santa Rosa. They provided Noriega with a customized basketball wheelchair, which was presented by Klay just before the game.
Noriega, who would celebrate his 16th birthday shortly after receiving the wheelchair, was overwhelmed with emotion and expressed his gratitude for the amazing moment. The following day, he was already using his new wheelchair to play basketball at the Warriors Basketball Academy in Oakland.
Klay Thompson emphasized that their impact extends beyond basketball and expressed how blessed he feels to have the opportunity to play the game and positively influence the youth. His teammate Stephen Curry and head coach Steve Kerr also commended Klay for his selfless act, highlighting his compassion and empathy towards others.
When asked how basketball has changed his life, Noriega shared that it has had a profound impact, allowing him to meet great people and make close friends. He expressed his appreciation for the sport and the opportunity to meet Klay Thompson, emphasizing how basketball has been a positive force in his life.
