“He isn’t the issue!” Robert Griffin III throws shade at Jerry Jones’ culture at Cowboys claiming they can win the Super Bowl even with Dak Prescott

RG3 claimed Prescott can win a Super Bowl with the Cowboys but they need to make changes in their approach.

Hardly any day goes by that analysts don’t forget to criticize the Dallas Cowboys. And which spot attracts the most scrutiny? Of course, the quarterback spot. Since 2016, Dak Prescott has been the sole occupant of the behind-the-scenes center at Arlington. Naturally, he feels the full brunt of the media.

But that doesn’t mean there’s only negativity floating around. There are even those who occasionally come to the defense of Dak Prescott. Just take, for example, Robert Griffin III. Being a former NFL quarterback himself, RG3 understands the pressure Prescott feels from being associated with the Cowboys.

In a recent segment on ESPN’s Get Up, Griffin came in support of the three-time Pro Bowler. Prescott has always been hounded for not being able to perform during the postseason. The latest example is the wild card loss to the Green Bay Packers at Arlington.

The Dallas Cowboys can win a Super Bowl with Dak Prescott at QB. He was an MVP candidate for most of last season. Dak isn’t the issue. The [culture] that Jerry Jones has created is. The first step to fixing the issue is acknowledging that there is a problem.

Griffin said

Cowboy culture has been a talking point lately. Prescott shared his thoughts on the matter. According to him, the ‘culture is high‘ in Dallas.

RG3 has defended Dak Prescott before

This was no isolated praise from the former Washington Commanders QB. Back in November 2023, the Cowboys had just lost 28-23 to the Philadelphia Eagles, even though Prescott racked up 29 completions for 374 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. RG3’s ESPN Get UP colleague Matt Ryan took a dig at Prescott, claiming he was unbelievable, but in the wrong way.

Dak Prescott was unbelievable. Because you still never won. He’s never going to play better than that.

Ryan said on Get Up

Despite the claim that Prescott throwing for 300 yards wasn’t enough to win a game, this hints that this is the sealing for the Dallas Cowboys. He cannot get better than that. But Griffin disagreed.

Dak is one of the most scrutinized quarterbacks in the game. Dak [Prescott] could have played better in the closing. Crucial moments in the game… I’ve always been a big believer in him.

Still, it can’t be emphasized enough that Prescott has a 2-5 playoff record. Despite the below-average statistics, owner Jerry Jones is all in for his quarterback to succeed.
