State of War Declared Amidst Hamas Rocket Barrage

ISRAELI military forces have declared a “state of war” after an early morning attack saw thousands of rockets fired into the country.

Footage on social media shows cars and buildings up in flames, with large plumes of smoke seen from miles away.

Clashes have also been reported on city streets, with Israeli media saying gunmen have opened fire on passersby in the town of Sderot.

Small planes and paragliders have also been used to attack Israel as the fighting spreads through air, land, and sea.



A video on Twitter appeared to show a paraglider flying into the south of Israel.

Fighting has reportedly begun in city streets, and gunmen in jeeps are “roaming the countryside.”

In phone footage, some Hamas fighters were seen attempting to reach Israel by small boats.

Air raid sirens have been activated across southern and central Israel as explosions continue to hit the cities of Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, Yavne, and Kfar Aviv.

Photos of the aftermath also showed the charred remains of cars littering the streets.

An Israeli woman has reportedly been killed in the attack, while an OAP (Old Age Pensioner) was fighting for her life.

A 20-year-old man was also injured after being hit by rocket shrapnel, and it was reported that at least 15 people were hurt.

Israel Defense General Daniel Hagari said on Twitter: “Hamas, which is the governing authority in the Gaza Strip, is behind this attack and will bear the consequences and responsibility for the events.”



Israel ordered locals to stay near bomb shelters within their homes and declared a state of war alert, stating: “The military declares a state of war alert.”

The Israeli military reported that “a number of terrorists have infiltrated into Israeli territory” and that it was striking targets in the Gaza Strip. They also stated, “The Hamas terror group will pay a very heavy price.” Hamas military commander Mohammad Deif announced on Hamas radio that 5,000 rockets had been launched. Hamas TV later reported an additional 2,000 rockets fired, resulting in hours of continuous bombardment of Israel. Deif said, “This is the day of the greatest battle to end the last occupation on earth.”
