While ᴇxcᴀvᴀтιɴԍ the royal Hyksos compound experts actually came across what appears to be 16 Giant hands that date back to 3,600 years ago. This recent discovery was made after the team followed up on a series of hints from the locals that suggested to look underneath the four mounds from the area.
The Giant hands are believed to be those of the enemies of the Egyptian civilization, as it was pretty common practice at the time for the Egyptian soldiers to cut off the arms of their vιcтιмs if they refused to surrender.
The discovery in itself was made by none other than Manfred Bietak himself as he reported having found them alongside multiple other relics underneath the compound itself.
He perfectly led the Austrian Archaeological Institute alongside the Austrian Academy of Science teams through which the ᴇxcᴀvᴀтιoɴs ended much quicker, to say the least.
His original mission was to ᴇxcᴀvᴀтe the ancient city of Avaris but after hearing about the mounds he figured there was no problem with seeing what could lie underneath the mounds and to his shock his gamble paid off. The ancient Egyptian soldiers would oftentimes do this as this practice was a means for them to completely depower their enemies, leaving them to ᴅιᴇ of ʙʟooᴅ loss for the most part.
Although they could be very sophisticated and advanced we do have to state that the ancient Egyptians were also quite ruthless when it came to leaving a message to their enemies.
