The Phoenix Suns pulled off an impressive win against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. Kevin Durant had a monster 37-point game and led the Suns to a much-needed victory. While the Suns were battling the Cavs, a major news shook the NFL World. Former LA Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is reportedly planning to sign a 2-year deal with the Washington Commanders. The $11.43 million deal got Kevin Durant talking, and he expressed his excitement on X moments after his game.

It turns out that Ekeler requested a trade when contract talks with the Chargers broke down last year but ended up staying with the team on a revised one-year deal. KD was ecstatic about the Commanders’ latest signing and wrote, “Luh this pick up…” Not only did Durant voice his excitement about Ekeler’s signing, but he also responded to the critics on social media.

In typical Kevin Durant fashion, the Suns superstar got into a social media banter with the fans and shut them down immediately. When this fan questioned the purpose of the Commanders’ new signing, Durant revealed why Ekeler could be a great pickup for the NFC East. “I like our RB room, he only adds to it.” Ekeler could be a great addition alongside the Commanders’ existing running back, Brian Robinson Jr.

One fan claimed Suns Center Jusuf Nurkic could smoke Ekeler in a foot race. KD hilariously replied, “That Saquon pick up got u gassed. Chill.” Durant was referring to Saquon Barkley’s shocking 3-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

While many superstars avoid getting into it with the fans, Kevin Durant does not shy away from voicing his opinions on social media. Being a Washington native, KD has been a Commanders’ supporter for life. And it is great to see him defending his favorite NFL team and its players.

Kevin Durant’s fandom for the Washington Commanders

KD’s fandom for the Washington Commanders goes beyond social media support. Durant is such a huge Commanders fan that he even attended their training camp last year. “I know he is a local guy. I know how much of a Washington Redskins/Commanders fan he is. Great to have his support. I mean, it is great to have the fanbase back.” Former Commanders’ head coach Ron Rivera said after KD attended the camp. Not only does Durant support the Commanders as a fan, but he has also expressed interest in becoming their part owner.

In 2022, Durant expressed his desire to be a part of the Commanders’ new ownership group when Dan Snyder was selling the team. “I would love to do it. I would love to give a little bit of my money to be a part of the Commanders, but we’ll see.” KD told ESPN. Unfortunately, Durant’s wish did not come true. However, it showed how dedicated he is to the Commanders and will grab the opportunity if it presents itself in the future.
