Within the basketball world, there has been a prevalent belief that contemporary NBA players are excessively amiable towards one another.
It is believed that because of this perceived brotherhood, players don’t compete with one another as strongly. But according to Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns, there are “no friends in the industry.”
Kevin Durant shared a mysterious story on Instagram after playing the Minnesota Timberwolves in a highly tough match.
He shared a screen grab of the Drake song “No Friends in the Industry” and Curren$y and the Alchemist song “Endurance Runners.”
Since Durant’s cryptic post appeared out of the blue, many fans found it surprising and perplexing. For those who saw the Suns vs. Timberwolves game last night, it wasn’t a huge surprise, though.
The Phoenix Suns defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 125-106 in a thrilling contest. The Suns’ ability to lock up the sixth seed made this victory crucial.
The game was full of several flashpoints between the two sets of players, despite the scoreline showing a clear victory for the Suns. It all began when Bradley Beal seemed to take the ball out of Anthony Edwards’ hand late in the second quarter.
Before the benches were cleared, there was a pushing altercation between the two players.
After a Suns timeout, Bradley Beal had some extra words for the Timberwolves’ bench, according to Sheldon Wohlman of Clutch Points.
Edward and Finch disagreed with everything Beal said. Edwards received a technical for his offenses, as did Beal. Although this game may have made Kevin Durant say that friendships don’t exist in the NBA, he is very close to former player Michael Beasley.
Kevin Durant and Michael Beasley’s childhood friendship
While some fans might not be aware, Kevin Durant has known Michael Beasley, the former star of the New York Knicks, since they were 11 years old.
Beasley said that KD was one of his “first real friends” while he was growing up in Maryland in an interview with ESPN’s Chris Haynes. From an early age, Durant and Beasley were both destined for the NBA.
Beasley even gave anecdotal evidence that he was convinced KD was destined for the NBA. “Get this kid an agent,” all the guys on the mic were saying, he said.
He 12. Everyone else in the world is 25. Send this child to an agent. Forty feet, cross, cross. I was aware for a time.
After the Seattle SuperSonics selected Durant with the second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, he made his debut. In the meanwhile, Beasley joined the league in 2008 after being chosen by the Miami Heat with the second overall choice.
But ever since they joined the league, their fortunes have drastically changed. Michael Beasley’s career ended due to his lack of professionalism, whereas Kevin Durant became a superstar and became a legend in the NBA.
He became a journeyman, playing for the Heat, Knicks, Bucks, Lakers, and other teams. The career of Michael Beasley serves as a warning to all hoopers with high talent.
