The Warriors’ standout player shared images from a Caribbean island vacation, which holds special significance as it is the birthplace of his father, Mychal Thompson, a former Lakers player. Given Mychal’s previous comment about Klay’s fondness for club dancing in China, it seems evident that he appreciates his son’s affinity for the Bahamas.
In the images, Thompson can be seen leisurely lounging on the water, enjoying a jet skiing session with a female friend, and snorkeling around a sunken boat. Back in June, when a viral video of Klay’s exuberant dancing at a Chinese club surfaced, TMZ reached out to his father for comment, particularly noting Stephen Curry’s use of laughing emojis in response to the footage.
Reports indicate that Mychal responded with a grin, remarking, “He got that from me.” He added, “That’s peculiar to the Bahamas. From the islands, that is. We are good dancers. Everyone from the Caribbean is born with that sense of rhythm.” It seems that Klay is embracing his roots and taking some time to reconnect with his rhythm.
